The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
